July 19, 2021 *Exhaling* Last week was like four weeks rolled into one. I am officially moved out of Atlanta. It feels SOO good to close that chapter. I’ll be back, but as a visitor. I went through 45 boxes in 4 days and decided what I wanted to keep or donate. All of my things are beautiful, but I am not nesting in this season of life, so I ended up keeping 12 boxes and donated all the rest. My bed frame, my sofas, my mirrors, my collected dishes, my art supplies, 32 unused canvases- Almost everything but some hats, dresses, filled journals, photographs, my first piece of expensive furniture (a lamp from a shop in Spokane), and The Wiz record (my absolute favorite collection of music ever made) I fought a man for in a record shop in Decatur, GA. Our things hold incredible memories. Even things you forgot about, come rushing back once you hold them. I thought my boxes would smell musty and old, but they smelled like L de Lolïta Lempicka (my favorite perfume), but of course I couldn’t find the bottle. Then I flew my mother and sister down and we all drove together for 15 hours over three days up north. We stopped as many places as we could. We danced in Charlotte to a live band, we explored the Luray Caverns (my favorite place when I was 10), we ate fried chicken at Mary Mac’s Tea Room, we sang ‘New York New York’ as we drove over the George Washington Bridge. When you allow yourself to exhale you can heal. When you allow chapters to close, you open space for many more to open. I’m so loving my life at the moment and who I have been becoming for the last 7 months- the last year, really. I am otherworldly and my heart is fully open to possibilities. Now I’m going to unload the truck, return it, and start my Monday work day. Buy me coffee? And a warm scone? Here’s my glorious booty for some inspiration. Love and more love, Alexandra
