I watched a video tutorial on how Marlene Dietrich did her makeup and how her contract requested certain types of lighting. I'm always experimenting and learning, so I did a more modern take on her look and used my bathroom lighting to emulate the lighting she liked--butterfly lighting for those of you who are curious. When I am leaning something new I usually do a quick proof of concept first, and later I'll pull out my professional lights and nice camera to do it justice! Oh yes, and a better backdrop than my shower curtain :) :)
